Stage Product News Published: 18 August 2005
Lifting, and rigging sales specialists and “The Lodestar People” - Lift-Turn-Move (LTM) - celebrate their first birthday at PLASA 05.

First Birthday
There will be a special First Birthday cake on the stand and a press event to kick off the exhibition for LTM at 10.30am on Sunday, “Starting off as we mean to carry on” states LTM’s John Jones.

LTM was launched last year by a collection of experienced industry individuals to offer a no-nonsense approach to “anything that moves” in the professional entertainment and leisure industries.

LTM is a new, independently owned company with a fresh attitude and new horizons.

Industry maverick John Jones is joined by co-directors David King and Dave Ward with a hand-picked team - all of whom will be at Plasa on Sunday. LTM’s tightly focused operation is concentrating on making life simple, friendly, efficient and cost-effective for their clients.

Says Jones, “People can call up and speak directly to the person they need to and place their orders or arrange a demo quickly and easily!” He adds that it’s great to be working in a compact, highly motivated environment, and the company’s performance in the first year has far exceeded all expectations,

LTM grew out of its first warehouse within 6 months, and in 12 months of trading has added 3 new members to the initial core team of 5. The company is trading worldwide.

Based in Birkenhead on the Wirral Peninsula, Lift Turn Move is ideally placed to take advantage of the countless positive energies embroiling the area - it has got very exciting since Liverpool was awarded the City of Culture for 2008. ‘It’s suddenly Ok to be a Scouser’.

Products on show at PLASA 05 will include:
CM Lodestars® and Prostars® from LTM

In addition to the new products, an extensive range of lifting and rigging equipment is available from LTM including Lodestar® and Prostar® electric chain hoists, and these will be highlighted at the show.
The Lodestar® is the entertainment industry standard hoist and these products can be found on most tours, events and festivals and in many venues around the world.
High integrity hoisting systems are also available, including equipment to BGV C1 German safety standard. Special features include double brakes, load sensing and multiple limit switches. Variable speed units and manual or computerised controllers are available to monitor safety features and drive the equipment. LTM probably has more experience of BGV C1 than anyone else in the UK.
LTM offers a comprehensive range of spare parts for Lodestars and Prostars plus repairs and routine servicing, with staff fully trained in both standard equipment and BGV C1 certified equipment.
Also showing is the new compact CM Prostar hoist, with increased capacities and speeds. This higher speed version will climb at 6 or 10m/min (increased from the industry standard 4 metres a minute). The 250 Kg SWL @ 4m/minute version is also shown.

Celebrating Lodestar’s 50th Anniversary
Lift-Turn-Move is also celebrating the 50th Birthday of the Lodestar Motor, launched in 1955.

Visit the LTM website - www.liftturnmove.co.uk - for details of a special competition to find the UK’s oldest Lodestar.

The winner gets £250 worth of LTM swag including a special one off jacket.

New at PLASA - EQUIPCHAINE®
The EQUIPCHAINE is an electromechanical chain lifting device that has been specifically designed for theatrical applications.

Each device consists of several modular elements connected together to suit the installation. Several chain drop positions are linked by the same drive mechanism that can be used to lift lighting bars, stage sets and curtains of various lengths.

EQUIPCHAINE is already loved by theatre consultants and architects throughout Europe; it has been installed in over 130 theatres and multi purpose spaces. Existing applications range from single to 40-device projects.

Using EQUIPCHAINE simplifies any structural problems, as it fits into existing structures, allowing service and back stage areas to be freed up from large lifting machinery.

EQUIPCHAINE’s efficiency and space saving properties has led to its integration into the entertainment systems of cruise ships, e.g. the Queen Mary II.

Primary Advantages

· EQUIPCHAINE‘s lifting mechanism is fully integrated within its own slender truss structure - for easy fixing into existing spaces.
· The length of each EQUIPCHAINE corresponds almost exactly to the fly bars that it lifts.
· The forces transmitted to the supporting structure are all vertical.
· The EQUIPCHAINE is extremely easy to install. It can be simply placed on a primary structure and moved manually. EQUIPCHAINE also exists in a format integrating a system of trolleys - similar to an overhead crane - for quick and simple deployment of EQUIPCHAINE units to the required position.
· EQUIPCHAINE is extremely quiet. It also conforms to the strict health & safety requirements when used over the stage.
· The assembly of several EQUIPCHAINE units allows lighting grids to be lifted into position once the luminaries are rigged at stage level.

IBEX Programmable Controllers

IBEX’s Programmable Hoist Controller offers fully computerised control, combined with the simplicity and versatility of a traditional manual hoist controller. It provides as little or as much functionality as required by the show. The Programmable Hoist Controller Plus adds even more power and versatility, with an enhanced control panel and integrated Ethernet port, for the most demanding applications. Up to 10 controllers may be linked together, providing control of up to 240 hoists. PC’s may also be connected for full screen status display and remote control functions.
