“Magnificent”: U2 are touring the globe with grandMA
Lighting Product Stories Published: 11 august
2009
In 1980, when a little known Irish Band called U2 released its first album “Boy”, hardly anyone noticed. Even the first gigs were played in front of only a handful of guests. Today this is completely beyond belief. After hits like “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, “New Year’s Day”, “Where The Streets Have No Name”, “One”, “Discotheque” or the Bob Dylan cover “All Along The Watchtower” Larry Mullen Jr., David "The Edge" Evans, Adam Clayton and Paul "Bono Vox" Hewson are now one of the biggest bands in the world. They’ve teamed up with artist like B.B. King, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash, received awards in every country worldwide and met the Pope, the US President and the UNO Secretary-General |

Take That grandMA2 to the Circus
Lighting Product Stories Published: 11 august

Take That, the UK's favourite 'boyband', hit the road this summer on their massive "Circus" stadium tour, with a spectacular lighting rig designed by Patrick Woodroffe and a stage set created by Es Devlin, Take That and the tour's artistic director, Kim Gavin. The stature of the tour - produced by TPO (The Production Office) headed by production manager Chris Vaughan - reflects the massive popularity of Take That. This started in the early 1990's and continued with even more enthusiasm in 2006, after one of the most meteoric band 'reformations' of the decade. |

legend rocked and rolled again: Led Zeppelin came, saw and conquered
London’s O2 Arena with grandMA
Lighting
Product Stories Published: 27 February
2008
The return of their idols with a famous concert at London’s
O2 Arena was like a dream coming true not only for the generation
who grew up with the songs of Led Zeppelin, but also for their children
who discovered for themselves the expressiveness of tunes like “Kashmir”,
“Stairway to Heaven”, “Black Dog”, “Immigrant
Song” or “Whole Lotta Love”. Just as a side note,
the last concert of the legendary four artists took place in Berlin
way back in 1980. The death of drummer John Bonham shortly after
sealed the end of the quartet. Now back again on the stage with
Bonham’s son Jason at the drums, Led Zeppelin once again proved
their fame to be more than justified. The event was organized as
a tribute to the late Ahmet Ertegun, co-founder of Atlantic Records,
who signed the band’s first record contract. Lighting designer
and show director Dave Hill created the event for the 20.000 “chosen”
ones, out of 20 million potential tickets buyers, to be part of
it by using two grandMA full-size and two MA NSPs. |
