Fédération Mondiale du Cirque Announces First World Circus Day

The Fédération Mondiale du Cirque, under the patronage of H.S.H. Princess Stephanie of Monaco, today announced the inaugural World Circus Day on Saturday, April 17, 2010. World Circus Day is designated as a special day for circuses and circus fans around the world to create and attend circus-related festive events in celebration of Circus as part of our worldwide cultural heritage.

Startissimo 2009, the 7th Circus and Varieté Festival Dresden, receives a very positive response among national and international artists and other circus professionals. The festival management already has received more then 80 applications for the competition during the festival which takes place from 23rd 26th of April 2009. Furthermore, there are now 15 ambassadors supporting the festival and the first members of the pre-selection team and of the jury could be appointed.

After a review of thirty-three entries from France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, South Africa, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the USA, S.A.S. la Princesse Stéphanie of Monaco named Richard Molinier's logo design as the winner.
Circus Flora Announces “Sherwood Forest”

Circus Flora – St. Louis’ adored one-ring circus – has announced an all new show for its 22nd season production “Sherwood Forest,” a tribute to the legend of Robin Hood and his band of merry men. The show will premiere June 5 – 22 under the air-conditioned red and white big top in Grand Center, St. Louis’ Arts and Entertainment District, adjacent to Powell Hall (corner of Grand Blvd. and Samuel Sheppard Dr.) The Circus Flora ensemble will bring this classic tale to life – the perfect story to showcase a myriad of acrobatics, animals, antics and music. Tickets go on sale March 24.
