Following Meyer Sound’s receipt three of the prestigious
TEC awards in recent years, the company was extremely pleased
to receive a second EDDY award for outstanding contributions
in the field of entertainment design and technology. The accolade
came for the M1D ultra-compact and the M2D compact curvilinear
array loudspeakers and was presented at the EDDY awards ceremonies
on June 27 at the John Jay Theater in New York City.
In accepting the award, Meyer Sound’s director
of marketing, Tim Chapman, passed along the appreciation of
John and Helen Meyer to Entertainment Design and the Broadway
community. “John and Helen would have loved to have been
here in person,” said Chapman, “but they are busy
babysitting MILO this weekend. However, they are justifiably
thrilled as are we all at Meyer Sound to be receiving an EDDY
for not one but two products this year.”
Showing its commitment to professional theatre,
Meyer Sound was a sponsor of the Broadway Sound Master Classes,
held at the John Jay Theatre in conjunction with the award ceremony.
Meyer Sound also sponsored the 2003 EDDY award for Sound Designer,
which was presented to Dan Moses Schreier, whose recent work
includes Homebody/Kabul and a revival of Into the Woods.
Chapman continued, “We want to thank the
Broadway community for supporting Meyer Sound by choosing our
products so often for theatrical performances both major and
minor.”
Celebrating their 11th anniversary this year,
the prestigious EDDY awards pay tribute to those whose work
has made an impact in theatre. Meyer Sound previously received
an EDDY for the UPM-2P ultra compact narrow coverage loudspeaker.
